Pikes Peak State Park
August 8-11 2019
Piano's in the park in McGregor Iowa. Great weather for the weekend is forecast.
Supper at Backwoods Bar and Grill, great place to eat and catch up with our good camping friends Tom and Diane. Try to start the camping season with them and end the season with an outing. Been a busy year for us (busy schedule and lousy weather) so this is our first outing.
Downtown McGregor. Several eating places here to chose from but limited shopping.
Our site at Pikes Peak State Park. This park is a gem. Small and very quiet. Close to Mississippi overlook.
Ellie's first outing also, she loves the outdoors and gets caught up on her walking.
We take turns making a breakfast and noon meal or dinner. Our turn for breakfast, made quiche in our dutch oven.
There is a small outdoor store at the park, so shopping was not a total bust.
Mississippi River valley overlook.
Visit to Effigy Mounds National Monument, 3 miles north of Marquette Iowa. One for the few free NP.
Participated in a Ranger Guided Tour of the Mounds, Our Park Ranger, Jared, did an outstanding job. Highly recommended.
Visit to the Valley Fish Shop in Prairie Du Chien, WI
Had a great time on our first outing of the year. Always a great time with Tom and Diane. Completed our weekend with Dinner in Prairie Du Chien at the Black Angus Supper Club which is true Wisconsin Supper Club...
