Our second outing of the year visiting Token Creek Campground in Dane county (Madison WI) Wisconsin about a 3.5 hour drive from Bettendorf. First time visiting this campground. We have stayed at the Park Farm campground also in Dane County but the facilities were still closed there due to COVID. We loved Token Creek, very small campground, well shaded, spacious sites and nice facilities.
We stayed in site #66 and our friends Ron and Judy were in site #64, both had electric. Very quiet campground and a return trip is defiantly in our future plans.
Token Creek is well situated on the north side of Madison and close to lots of different bike routes.
We met Ron and Judy (Appleton, WI) on the Campinn Forum and had met them last (2019) Fall while we were both traveling and staying in Banff, Canada. The chance meeting lead us to make plans for a future trip. We arranged this trip after the COVID restrictions were lifted in Wisconsin.
Over the three day two night stay we bike the Great Sak State Trail a very scenic ride starting in Sak City WI and ending at a closed munitions plant (about 12 miles) and the Capitol City Trail, starting at the Park Farm Campground and ending back there but not before we had bike around Lake Mendota Via Madison WI.
High light of this trip were the beers at the Village Pub in Sak City after our ride Ron's famous "Ron Burger" and dinner on Saturday night at Delaneys (supper club).
Defiantly a return trip is in order!
